Investigative Analyst I

Job Purpose

Responsible for supporting investigative efforts by conducting data analysis, research, and case management. The role involves collaborating with investigative teams, utilizing investigative tools and techniques, and providing critical insights to support decision-making.

Essential Duties

  • Utilize data analysis tools and software to analyze large volumes of data related to investigations.
  • Identify patterns, trends, anomalies, and correlations in data to uncover potential leads or investigative insights.
  • Prepare data visualizations, charts, and reports to communicate findings effectively.
  • Conduct in-depth research using various sources to gather information relevant to investigations.
  • Analyze public records, social media platforms, financial records, and other sources of information.
  • Verify the accuracy and reliability of information obtained during the investigative process.
  • Assist in managing investigative cases by organizing case files, documenting investigative activities, and tracking progress.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information throughout the investigative process.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and detailed reports summarizing investigative findings, analysis results, and recommendations.
  • Present findings to stakeholders, including management, legal teams, and law enforcement agencies as needed.
  • Ensure that reports comply with legal and regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Utilize specialized investigative software, tools, and techniques for data analysis and information retrieval.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in investigative technology to enhance analytical capabilities.
  • Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and organizational policies related to investigations.
  • Conduct investigations with integrity, objectivity, and professionalism, maintaining impartiality and fairness.
  • Perform other duties related as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and investigative software applications.
  • Detail oriented with specific emphasis on listening skills.
  • Mandatory confidentiality relating to work performed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior Law enforcement experience (Retired in Good Standing)
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Excellent research abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for report writing and presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of investigative procedures, legal requirements, and ethical guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in criminal justice or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with New York state laws and regulations related to investigations.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
  • Occasionally may need to reach, stoop, or kneel.
